The cold cast zinc plating method (with Cold Cast portable equipment), for protecting structural parts against corrosion, is versatile and can be used for both localized and complete processing of parts. At the moment, zinc coating is obtained by several methods, such as cold spray zinc coating, hot dip galvanizing, gas-thermal galvanizing and covering with Zn-containing paints. Each of the above methods is in demand in modern industry and provides reliable protection of metal against corrosion. Cold and gas-thermal spraying are based on the use of powders, the main difference between the two methods has to do with the physical state of Zn in the gas stream. In thermal spraying, the gas temperature is above the melting point (solidification process), whereas in cold spraying the temperature remains below the melting point (solid deposition process). So far as it is a flexible method, cold spraying has become popular in the last decade. Moreover, it provides an effective solution for localized repair of damaged areas on the spot, by applying thin or thick coatings.
